Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 2026
Overview
StreamerQ is a browser extension that helps you build and manage a personal streaming queue. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data StreamerQ collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
What data we collect
Queue data (stored locally)
Your queue, watched history, and preferences (such as country selection and dark mode setting) are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Search queries
When you search for a movie or TV show, your search query is sent to the StreamerQ server, which forwards it to The Movie Database (TMDB) API to retrieve title information, poster artwork, and ratings. These queries do not include any personally identifiable information. We do not log or store search queries on our server.
Streaming availability requests
When StreamerQ checks which streaming services carry a title in your selected country, it sends the title's TMDB identifier and your selected country code to our server, which queries the TMDB API. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
Active tab detection
StreamerQ detects when you are browsing a supported streaming service (such as Netflix or Disney+) in order to highlight titles in your queue that are available on that service. This detection happens locally in your browser by checking the URL of your active tab. No browsing data is transmitted to our servers or any third party.
What data we do not collect
StreamerQ does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal information (name, email address, phone number, or location)
- Browsing history or activity beyond active tab URL detection described above
- Cookies or tracking identifiers
- Analytics or usage telemetry
- Financial or payment information
Third-party services
StreamerQ uses the following third-party services:
The Movie Database (TMDB)
Used to retrieve movie and TV show metadata, poster artwork, ratings, and streaming availability. TMDB's privacy policy is available at themoviedb.org/privacy-policy. StreamerQ uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
StreamerQ server
Hosted on Railway (railway.app). Acts as a proxy between the extension and the TMDB API. Does not log requests, store user data, or set cookies. Railway's privacy policy is available at railway.app/legal/privacy.
Data retention
All queue and preference data is stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome (Settings → Extensions → StreamerQ → Remove). Uninstalling the extension permanently deletes all locally stored data.
Permissions
StreamerQ requests the following Chrome permissions:
- To display the queue interface in Chrome's side panel.
- To save your queue and preferences locally on your device.
- To detect which streaming service you are currently browsing, so relevant titles in your queue can be highlighted.
- To detect navigation between streaming sites and update the side panel accordingly.
- To keep the extension's background service worker alive during active use.
Children's privacy
StreamerQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of StreamerQ after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
